Before you start

Open it from Generate my KPIs on the site — you drop straight in with no sign-in. The first screen (“Welcome to Catipult”) asks how you want to begin:

Organization basics

The first two steps establish who you are.

Basic Info

Provide Organization Name, a Brief Description of what you do, and optionally Industry, Number of Employees, Number of Locations, and Management Structure. Website is required — it anchors the AI’s understanding of your business.

Mission & Vision

Set your Mission, Vision, Values, and an Outcome Statement (“what success looks like”). Don’t have these written down? Let the AI draft them from your basics and edit to fit.

Departments, roles & users

Three steps that map your org — each one has a Generate with AI button so you refine suggestions instead of typing from scratch.

   Departments

   Define your functional areas — name, description, and optional parent department. Ask the AI to “create departments for a midsize company with engineering, product, marketing and sales,” then adjust.

2. 2

   Roles

   Add the seats inside those departments — role name, department, level, and reports to. The AI generates roles per department. (You’ll need departments first.)

3. 3

   Users

   Map people to roles — name, email, role, manager, and Admin privileges. At least one user must be an admin, and you can’t remove yourself.

Core KPIs

The heart of the wizard. You pick a framework, give the AI context about your business, review the suggested metrics, then generate the full set. It runs as a focused four-part sub-wizard.

Choose a framework

Pick the set that fits your size and stage — Core 6 is the default foundation; Golden 4 maps to Catipult’s four valuation drivers, one KPI per driver. You also choose an initial status: start in Plan (counts toward your score while you prepare) or a status that starts at 0% and improves as you act. You can change these later.

The four sub-steps

   Framework

   Confirm the KPI framework and the initial status for KPIs and action items.

2. 2

   Business Info

   Give the AI context so metrics are relevant — organization age, total clients, TAM, customer and employee churn, current revenue and target, plus focus areas, target customer, and biggest challenges. If you uploaded documents, many of these are pre-filled from them.

3. 3

   KPI Titles

   Click Generate KPI Titles and review the suggestions — tweak each title, description, current value, suggested target and unit. Then Approve & Generate Full KPIs.

4. 4

   Full KPIs

   The AI expands each title into a complete KPI — and generates action items for each — drawing on any documents you attached. Review, edit, or view the details of every generated KPI.

Business drivers

Beyond the core set, define the drivers of your business and the KPIs under each. This is where the framework goes deep.

   Generate the drivers

   Use Generate All with AI to get a set of business drivers, or add your own. Each shows an AI Generated badge and can be expanded.

2. 2

   Work a driver

   Open the Driver Workspace to add and refine the KPIs (and their action items) under a single driver, one focused screen at a time.

3. 3

   Move on

   When your drivers have KPIs, continue to Review & Finalize.

Review & export

The final step lays out everything you built across three tabs, and lets you take it with you.

• Export JSON — the complete framework, re-importable later or into other systems.
• Export Summary — a high-level executive summary as text.
• Download PDF Report — a polished Performance Framework Report.
